Privacy policy

Last updated: 26 August 2026 · Version 2.3 · Covers the Genesyx website and the Genesyx: Fertility Tracker app

Genesyx Ltd ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect personal data when you visit genesyx.co.uk, join our mailing list, or use the Genesyx: Fertility Tracker mobile app.

The short version: on the website we collect your email address if you sign up for updates. In the app we collect your account email and the cycle and wellbeing information you choose to log. Your data is stored securely, never sold, never used for advertising, and you can permanently delete your app account and all of its data at any time — in the app or via our account deletion page (https://genesyx.co.uk/pages/delete-account).

1. Who we are

Data we collect
Where Category Examples
Website Mailing list data Email address you submit to receive updates
Website Technical data IP address, browser type, device information, usage and cookie-related data where cookies are in use
App Account data Email address, display name, app preferences (such as theme). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email address (or Apple's private relay address) and basic profile name they provide

App Technical data Basic device and app information needed to keep the service secure and working (for example, authentication tokens)

The app does not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. It contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

3. How we use it, and our lawful basis

  • Mailing list — to send you news about our launch, products and related updates. Lawful basis: your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). Unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email or by emailing us.
  • Providing the app — creating your account, syncing your logs between devices, and showing you your own information. Lawful basis: performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)).
  • Health and cycle data (including vaginal pH readings) — this is special category data. We process it only with your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a)), which you give when you choose to record it. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting individual entries or your whole account.
  • Security and service operation — authentication, abuse prevention, and keeping the website and app working. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).
  • Legal obligations — where we must comply with law or regulation (Article 6(1)(c)).

We do not use your data for advertising, sell personal data, or make automated decisions with legal effects about you.

4. Where your data is stored

Genesyx uses Supabase (hosted on Amazon Web Services) as its backend. For signed-in users, account and health data is stored and processed in the eu-west-1 region — AWS Europe (Ireland). Data is not stored outside the European Economic Area in normal operation. Where you use the app without signing in, your data remains on your device during normal use and is not transmitted to our servers; depending on your device settings and app configuration, local data may be included in operating system backup or device-transfer processes.

App data is protected by row-level security so that records are accessible only to the authenticated account that owns them. Data is encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest by our hosting providers.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal data only with the service providers (processors) needed to operate Genesyx:

  • Supabase — app database hosting and authentication.
  • Apple and Google — only if you choose to Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google; they act as identity providers and confirm your sign-in to us. We do not send your health data to either.
  • Shopify — website hosting and storage of website form submissions.
  • Klaviyo — mailing list management and update emails.
  • Our transactional email provider — solely to send app account emails such as sign-up confirmation and password resets.
  • Professional advisers, regulators or authorities — where required by law.

These providers process data on our instructions under data processing agreements. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers, and we will never disclose your health data to anyone except where the law requires it.

6. International transfers

Our main app database hosting for signed-in users is in the European Economic Area, in Ireland. Some of our service providers may nevertheless process limited personal data outside the UK. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK-approved contractual clauses. Transfers between the UK and the EEA are subject to recognised adequacy arrangements.

7. How long we keep it

Mailing list: until you unsubscribe, ask us to delete it, or we close the list.

App data: for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, cycle settings, daily logs, pH readings and authentication record are permanently deleted immediately. Residual copies in encrypted backups expire on our providers' standard rotation and are not used for any other purpose.

8. Deleting your app account and data

You can permanently delete your app account and all associated data at any time, in two ways:

9. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • access a copy of your personal data;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • delete your data ("right to erasure");
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time for data processed on the basis of consent;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@genesyx.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

10. Children

The website and app are intended for adults and are not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Not medical advice

Genesyx provides educational wellness information and personal tracking tools. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it should not be used as a form of contraception. Always speak to a qualified healthcare professional about your fertility and health.

12. Data security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date, and app users will be notified in the app before changes take effect.
